Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Leave Beacon around 8:00 AM and drive north via NY-52 and I-87, allowing roughly 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes to reach Kingston. Start at Deising’s Bakery, a practical first stop for coffee, pastries, bread, and a light vegetarian breakfast; selections vary, so this is a good place to pick up something for later as well. Midtown parking is generally easier than in the center of Uptown, and you can drive or walk onward depending on where you find a space.
Head to Rough Draft Bar & Books in Uptown, where you can browse the shelves and settle in with coffee, tea, or another non-alcoholic drink rather than treating it as a bar stop. Confirm its Sunday hours before leaving Beacon, since weekend schedules can change. From there, explore the Stockade District on foot, taking in the old stone houses, churches, and small local shops before visiting Senate House State Historic Site. The grounds and surrounding streets are worthwhile even if the interior is closed; seasonal Sunday access can be limited.
Drive about five minutes to Moonburger for lunch. Its menu is centered on burgers but includes vegetarian and vegan choices, making it an easier fit than a brewery or pub if you want to skip alcohol; allow approximately $15–25 per person, depending on drinks and sides. If you still have room, keep the bakery bread or pastries from Deising’s Bakery for the drive home.
Aim to leave Kingston between 3:00 and 3:30 PM for Beacon, using I-87 and NY-52 and allowing about 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes. This leaves enough flexibility for browsing, a spontaneous shop or gallery stop in Uptown, and Sunday parking or traffic delays without making the day feel rushed.
