Honeymoon Itinerary for Gangtok and Darjeeling in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrive in Gangtok
    Bagdogra Airport to Gangtok (78 km, 4 hours drive)

    Upon arrival, check-in at your hotel and relax. In the afternoon, visit the Enchey Monastery, a serene Buddhist monastery located on a hilltop. Spend the evening at MG Marg, the bustling shopping area of Gangtok, filled with shops, restaurants and cafes.

  2. Day 2: Gangtok
    From your hotel to Rumtek Monastery (23 km, 1 hour drive)

    In the morning, visit the Rumtek Monastery, a beautiful Tibetan Buddhist monastery that also serves as the headquarters of the Kagyu sect. In the afternoon, visit the Tsomgo Lake, a serene glacial lake located at an altitude of 12,313 ft. In the evening, explore the Hanuman Tok, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman and a popular viewpoint for stunning sunset views.

  3. Day 3: Gangtok to Darjeeling
    Gangtok to Darjeeling (98 km, 3.5 hours drive)

    Travel to Darjeeling, a picturesque hill town known for its tea gardens and stunning views of the Himalayas. After checking in at your hotel, visit the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, a museum dedicated to mountaineering activities in the Himalayas. In the afternoon, take a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. Spend the evening at the Chowrasta, a popular public square that offers stunning views of the Kanchenjunga peak.

  4. Day 4: Darjeeling
    From your hotel to Tiger Hill (11 km, 45 minutes drive)

If you have extra time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby town of Kalimpong to visit the Zang Dhok Palri Phodang, a Buddhist monastery that offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains.
