Dates are flexible. This day-by-day plan is provisional until you choose exact travel dates.
Leave Dwarka around 5:00 AM in a private cab or self-drive car. The route is via NH44 through Murthal, Chandigarh, Bilaspur, and Mandi, with roughly 12–14 hours of door-to-door travel depending heavily on Delhi and Chandigarh traffic, roadworks, and mountain driving. Confirm the Manali hotel’s late check-in and parking before leaving; keep cash, water, warm layers, and offline navigation handy, and plan fuel and rest stops rather than trying to drive continuously.
Make the first substantial break at Sukhdev Dhaba, Murthal, around 7:00–8:00 AM for parathas, curd, tea, and a short stretch. Allow about ₹200–₹500 per person, plus time for possible weekend crowds and parking. Continue north after breakfast, and stop for lunch at Haveli, also in Murthal, around 1:00–2:00 PM if your actual traffic progress makes this practical; its North Indian meal typically costs about ₹300–₹700 per person. Since both stops are close together, treat the second as a flexible meal stop rather than forcing both if the morning is delayed.
The road becomes slower and more tiring after Bilaspur, with winding sections approaching Mandi and Manali. Take the planned short scenic pause at the Pandoh Dam viewpoint around 5:00–5:30 PM, only if traffic and daylight allow; stop in a safe, designated area and do not linger near road edges. Expect the final approach into Manali to take longer than the map suggests, especially with evening congestion around Bhuntar, Kullu, and the town centre. After checking in and having a simple dinner near the hotel, take a gentle walk along Mall Road, Manali around 9:00–10:00 PM only if you arrive with enough energy; shops often begin closing by then, so this is better for atmosphere than serious shopping. Return to the Manali hotel for the night, with the overnight stay, parking, and late arrival already confirmed.
