Two-Day Nature Itinerary in Mumbai for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Sanjay Gandhi National Park
    1 hour 5 minutes (20 miles) from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

    Start your day early and head to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, located in the northern part of Mumbai. The park spans over 100 square kilometers and is home to a diverse range of flora and fauna. Take a morning safari to explore the park and spot animals like leopards, deer, and langurs. After lunch, visit the Kanheri Caves located within the park. These 109 rock-cut caves were used by Buddhist monks as a place of meditation and study. In the evening, take a leisurely walk around the park's beautiful lake and enjoy the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Elephanta Caves
    1 hour 10 minutes (10 miles) from Gateway of India

    Take a ferry from Gateway of India to Elephanta Island, located in the Mumbai Harbour. The island is home to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The caves contain a collection of rock-cut temples dedicated to the Hindu god, Lord Shiva. Spend the morning exploring the caves and learning about the ancient Indian art and architecture. After lunch, take a nature walk around the island's beaches and hills. In the evening, take the ferry back to Mumbai and enjoy a sunset view from the Gateway of India.

If you have extra time, visit the Karnala Bird Sanctuary, located around 50 km from Mumbai. The sanctuary is home to over 220 species of birds and is a must-visit for bird lovers.
