4-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Siliguri, Darjeeling, Namcha in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Siliguri
    10 minutes (3.5km) from Bagdogra Airport

    In the morning, visit the Kali Mandir temple to begin the day with blessings from the deity. After lunch, head to the Mahananda Wildlife Sanctuary for an exciting jungle safari and witness a variety of wild animals and birds. In the evening, explore the Hong Kong market for affordable shopping and enjoy a variety of local food.

  2. Day 2: Darjeeling
    2 hours (60 km) from Siliguri

    Early morning, enjoy a breathtaking sunrise view from the Tiger Hill. After that, visit the Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park to see the rare Red Panda and Snow Leopard. In the afternoon, take a ride on the Darjeeling Himalayan Railway and explore the city's colonial history. End the day with a visit to the Happy Valley Tea Estate and experience the process of tea-making.

  3. Day 3: Namcha
    1 hour 30 minutes (48 km) from Darjeeling

    In the morning, visit the Namcha Barwa Nature Resort for a thrilling zip-lining and rock climbing experience. After lunch, explore the beautiful Lepchajagat village and enjoy scenic views of the Kanchenjunga Mountains. End the day with a bonfire and stargazing at the resort.

  4. Day 4: Siliguri
    2 hours 30 minutes (86 km) from Namcha

    On the last day, visit the ISKCON temple to seek blessings from Lord Krishna. After that, head to the Coronation Bridge for a scenic view of the Teesta River. In the afternoon, explore the Salugara Monastery and learn about Tibetan culture and Buddhism. End the day with a visit to the City Centre Mall for shopping and entertainment.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the Kalimpong town to explore the Buddhist monasteries, flower nurseries and enjoy the local street food. Also, consider taking a day trip to Mirik to experience boating in the Sumendu Lake and explore the orange orchards. To maximize your fun, try the local momos, thukpa and churpee cheese. Don't forget to carry warm clothes and rain gear as the weather can be unpredictable.
