4-Day Shoestring Budget Itinerary for Goa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Baga Beach

    Morning: Start your day at Baga beach, one of the most popular beaches in Goa. With its golden sands and clear blue waters, it is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the sun. You can also take a dip in the sea or try your hand at some water sports like jet skiing or parasailing.

    Afternoon: Head to Britto's, a popular restaurant located on the beach, for some delicious Goan cuisine. Try the fish curry or the prawn vindaloo, two of the most popular dishes.

    Evening: End your day by watching the sunset at Baga beach. You can also walk around the market, which is filled with handicrafts and souvenirs, or visit the nearby Tito's Lane for some nightlife.

  2. Day 2: Dudhsagar Waterfalls
    2 hours (75 km) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Wake up early, grab a quick breakfast and head to the Dudhsagar waterfalls. Located in the Bhagwan Mahaveer Sanctuary and Mollem National Park, the waterfall is a sight to behold. Take a dip in the cool waters or go for a trek in the surrounding forest.

    Afternoon: Visit the Tambdi Surla temple, one of the oldest temples in Goa. Built in the 12th century, it is a marvel of ancient Indian architecture.

    Evening: Head back to Baga beach and spend the evening exploring the nightlife on Tito's Lane.

  3. Day 3: Anjuna Flea Market
    20 minutes (8 km) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Start your day by exploring the Anjuna Flea Market, which takes place every Wednesday. Here, you can find everything from handcrafted jewellery to second-hand clothes. Make sure to bargain for the best prices!

    Afternoon: Visit the Chapora Fort, located on a hill overlooking the Chapora River. The fort has a rich history and offers stunning views of the surrounding area.

    Evening: End your day with a sunset boat cruise on the Mandovi River. The river offers beautiful views of the Goan countryside and is a great way to relax after a day of exploring.

  4. Day 4: Goa State Museum
    30 minutes (14 km) from Baga Beach

    Morning: Visit the Goa State Museum and learn about the rich history and culture of Goa. The museum has a vast collection of artefacts, including sculptures, paintings and manuscripts.

    Afternoon: Explore the Latin Quarter of Panaji, also known as Fontainhas. The area is famous for its colourful Portuguese-style houses and winding streets.

    Evening: End your day by visiting the Miramar Beach, located just a few kilometres from Panaji. The beach offers stunning views of the Arabian Sea and is a great place to relax and unwind.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Old Goa churches, the Spice Plantations and the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. You can also take a day trip to the neighbouring state of Karnataka to visit the Gokarna Beaches or the Jog Falls. To maximise your fun, try to attend a Goan music and dance performance or take a yoga or cooking class.
