7-Day Adventure Itinerary for Ladakh in February 2024

  1. Day 1: Drive to Leh
    Leh Airport to Leh (3.6 miles, 15 minutes)

    In the morning, drive to the city of Leh. In the afternoon, explore the Shanti Stupa and Tsemo Fort. In the evening, visit the Leh Palace for a panoramic view of the city.

  2. Day 2: Nubra Valley
    Leh to Nubra Valley (75 miles, 3 hours)

    Drive to the Nubra Valley and visit the Diskit Monastery and the Hunder Sand Dunes. In the evening, enjoy a camel ride and stargaze in the desert.

  3. Day 3: Pangong Tso Lake
    Nubra Valley to Pangong Tso Lake (170 miles, 7 hours)

    Drive to Pangong Tso Lake and enjoy views of the stunning blue waters. In the afternoon, walk on the frozen lake and build a snowman. In the evening, warm up by a bonfire and stargaze.

  4. Day 4: Leh Market and Khardung La Pass
    Pangong Tso Lake to Leh (146 miles, 6 hours)

    In the morning, visit the Leh Market and shop for souvenirs. In the afternoon, drive to the Khardung La Pass, one of the highest motorable passes in the world. In the evening, enjoy a warm cup of tea and watch the sunset from the pass.

  5. Day 5: Chadar Trek
    Leh to Chadar Trek starting point (53 miles, 2 hours)

    Embark on a 2-day Chadar Trek on the frozen Zanskar River. In the morning, hike through the frozen valley and admire the ice formations. In the afternoon, enjoy a hot bowl of soup and rest in a cave. In the evening, warm up by the bonfire and stargaze.

  6. Day 6: Chadar Trek
    Chadar Trek ending point to Leh (53 miles, 2 hours)

    Continue the Chadar Trek in the morning and reach the ending point. In the afternoon, drive back to Leh and enjoy a relaxing evening at a local spa.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    Leh to Leh Airport (3.6 miles, 15 minutes)

    In the morning, check out of the hotel and depart for Leh Airport.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Hemis Monastery and the Alchi Monastery. You can also take a side trip to the Zanskar Valley or go ice climbing in the Himalayas. To maximize your fun, dress in layers and stay hydrated. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, such as momos and thukpa. Lastly, make sure to acclimatize to the high altitude before embarking on any hikes or treks.
