5-Day Adventure Itinerary for Meghalaya in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Shillong
    30 minutes (9.3 km) from Shillong Airport

    Start your day with a visit to the Elephant Falls. Enjoy the scenic beauty and take a dip in the cool water. In the afternoon, head to the Shillong Peak for a panoramic view of the city. Spend your evening at the Don Bosco Museum and learn about the rich culture and history of the Northeast.

  2. Day 2: Mawlynnong

    Start your day early and take a drive to Mawlynnong, known as the “cleanest village in Asia”. Visit the Living Root Bridge, a unique example of bioengineering. Then hike to the Sky View Point, a 85 foot bamboo structure for an aerial view of the village. Spend the evening strolling through the village and interacting with the locals.

  3. Day 3: Cherrapunji
    2 hours 30 minutes (80 km) from Mawlynnong

    Experience the breathtaking beauty of the Seven Sisters Falls in the morning. Then visit the Mawsmai Cave, a natural wonder with interesting rock formations. After lunch, hike to the Double Decker Living Root Bridge in Nongriat village. Take a dip in the natural pool under the bridge before returning to Cherrapunji.

  4. Day 4: Dawki
    2 hours 30 minutes (81 km) from Cherrapunji

    Take a boat ride in the crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River, known for its surreal beauty. Then visit the Bangladesh border, only a stone's throw away. After lunch, head to the Rainbow Falls for a refreshing swim. Spend the evening at Shnongpdeng, known for its adventure sports like kayaking and cliff jumping.

  5. Day 5: Nohkalikai

    Visit the Nohkalikai Falls, the tallest plunge waterfall in India. Hike to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding hills. Then head to the Mawphlang Sacred Forest, a biodiversity hotspot.
