Start your day with a visit to Rumtek Monastery. This is the largest monastery in Sikkim and is home to several important Buddhist relics. You can join the monks for their daily prayers and explore the golden stupa which contains the ashes of the 16th Karmapa. In the afternoon, take a stroll in the gardens and enjoy the serene environment. In the evening, attend the evening prayer ceremony and experience the calm and peaceful atmosphere of the monastery.
Day 2 will take you to the beautiful Tsomgo Lake. The lake is located at an altitude of 12,400 ft and is surrounded by snow-capped mountains. Enjoy a yak ride or take a walk around the lake and take in the breathtaking views. In the afternoon, visit the Baba Harbhajan Singh Mandir, a shrine built in memory of a soldier who lost his life near the lake. End your day with a cup of hot tea and some local snacks at one of the tea stalls nearby.
On your last day in Gangtok, visit the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, a research institute and museum that houses one of the largest collections of Tibetan artifacts in the world. Learn about the history and culture of Tibet and explore the beautiful gardens surrounding the institute. In the afternoon, visit the Gangtok Ropeway for a bird's eye view of the city. End your day with a visit to the Enchey Monastery and enjoy the evening prayer ceremony.
If you have some extra time, visit the Banjhakri Falls, a beautiful waterfall located on the outskirts of Gangtok. You can also take a day trip to Nathu La Pass, a mountain pass on the India-China border. For adventure seekers, try paragliding or river rafting in the Teesta River. To maximize your fun, be sure to try the local food and shop for souvenirs at the MG Marg. Don't forget to carry warm clothing as it may get chilly in the evenings.
