Relaxing 3-Day Itinerary for Mumbai in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Hanging Gardens
    10 minutes (3.6 km) from Gateway of India

    In the morning, enjoy a peaceful stroll through the Hanging Gardens, located on the western side of Mumbai. This beautifully landscaped park offers scenic views of the Arabian Sea and the city. Afterward, head to the nearby Kamala Nehru Park, famous for its giant boot statue and the view of the Queen's Necklace. For lunch, try the famous street food of Mumbai at Chowpatty Beach. In the afternoon, visit the Mani Bhavan Gandhi Museum, dedicated to the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi. End the day by taking a sunset boat ride from the Gateway of India and enjoy the beautiful view of the city skyline from the Arabian Sea.

  2. Day 2: Sanjay Gandhi National Park
    1 hour (35 km) from Crawford Market

    In the morning, head to Sanjay Gandhi National Park, one of the most beautiful natural reserves in Mumbai. Take a guided tour of the park and explore its lush greenery, treks, ancient caves, and wildlife. For lunch, head to the nearby Borivali Biryani Center, famous for its delicious biryani. In the afternoon, relax at the nearby Essel World Amusement Park, one of the largest amusement parks in India. Enjoy the thrilling rides and water slides. End the day with a visit to the nearby Global Vipassana Pagoda, a huge meditation center that also offers a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea.

  3. Day 3: Elephanta Caves
    1 hour (19 km) from Siddhivinayak Temple

    In the morning, take a ferry ride to the Elephanta Caves, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a collection of cave temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Explore the ancient rock-cut sculptures, carvings, and architecture. For lunch, head to the nearby Gajalee Seafood Restaurant, famous for its fresh seafood. In the afternoon, visit the Siddhivinayak Temple, one of the most famous and auspicious temples in Mumbai, dedicated to Lord Ganesha. End the day with a relaxing sunset walk along the Marine Drive, also known as the Queen's Necklace, a 3.6 km long promenade along the coast of South Mumbai.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the busiest railway stations in India, or the Haji Ali Dargah, a mosque and tomb located in the middle of the Arabian Sea. For a side trip, visit the nearby hill station of Lonavala, famous for its scenic views, waterfalls, and caves. To maximize your fun, try the local street food of Mumbai, such as vada pav, pav bhaji, and bhel puri, or attend a Bollywood movie screening or a cricket match. Additionally, be sure to check out any local events or festivals happening during your visit, such as the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival or Ganesh Chaturthi.
