One-day Itinerary in Varanasi

  1. 6:00AM: Assi Ghat

    Start your day at Assi Ghat, one of the most popular ghats in Varanasi. Enjoy the sunrise, take a boat ride and observe the daily rituals of locals and pilgrims.

  2. 8:00AM: Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Visit the historic Kashi Vishwanath Temple. It is one of the most important Hindu temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple complex is a magnificent example of ancient Indian architecture.

  3. 10:00AM: Ramnagar Fort
    30 minutes (9.2 km) from Kashi Vishwanath Temple

    Explore Ramnagar Fort, an 18th-century sandstone fortification that overlooks the Ganges. The museum inside the fort has an impressive collection of vintage cars, swords, and old guns.

  6. 4:00PM: Sarnath
    30 minutes (9.8 km) from Bharat Mata Mandir

    End your day at Sarnath, the place where Lord Buddha gave his first sermon after attaining enlightenment. Visit the ancient Buddhist ruins and the famous Dhamekh Stupa. The Sarnath Museum has an excellent collection of Buddhist artifacts and sculptures.

Recommendations

If you have more time in Varanasi, consider visiting the New Vishwanath Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, and Durga Temple. You can also take a sunrise boat ride to see more ghats and temples along the Ganges. If you want to take a side trip, you can visit the nearby Chunar Fort or Jaunpur. Make sure to try the local street food and shop for souvenirs in the markets. Don't forget to bargain!
