2-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Chandigarh in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Rock Garden
    16 minutes (3.6 km) from Chandigarh Railway Station

    Morning: Explore the unique Rock Garden built entirely out of recycled materials such as broken bangles, tiles, and ceramic dishes. This 25-acre garden features thousands of sculptures and waterfalls, making it a perfect spot for a morning stroll.
    Afternoon: Head to the nearby Sukhna Lake, situated at the foothills of the Shivalik Range. Enjoy a picnic lunch while admiring the scenic views or go boating in the lake.
    Evening: Visit the nearby Sector 17 Plaza for some shopping or try some local cuisine at the numerous food stalls situated here.

  2. Day 2: Pinjore Gardens
    28 minutes (19.4 km) from Rock Garden

    Morning: Start your day at the beautiful Pinjore Gardens, also known as Yadavindra Gardens. These Mughal-style gardens are spread over 100 acres and feature a mini-zoo, Japanese garden, and several fountains.
    Afternoon: Head to the ChattBir Zoo, located about 20 minutes away. The zoo is home to over 100 species of animals, including tigers, lions, and elephants.
    Evening: End your day at the Elante Mall, one of the largest malls in the region. Enjoy some shopping or catch a movie at the PVR Cinemas situated here.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Government Museum and Art Gallery, which features a collection of artworks and sculptures from the region. You can also take a day trip to the nearby Chandigarh Botanical Garden and Nature Park or the Nada Sahib Gurudwara. For a unique experience, try taking a hot air balloon ride over the city. Lastly, don't forget to try some of the local street food, such as chole bhature, chaat, and lassi.
