2-Day Honeymoon Itinerary in Chennai (June 2023)

  1. Day 1: Marina Beach
    20 minutes (7.5km) from Chennai International Airport

    Start your honeymoon with a romantic walk on the longest natural urban beach in India. Enjoy the stunning sunrise view with your partner. You can also try various beach activities such as horse riding, surfing, and swimming. Have breakfast at one of the shacks nearby. After that, visit the nearby St. Thomas Cathedral, one of the oldest churches in Chennai. Have lunch at any of the local restaurants and, in the evening, visit the beautiful Kapaleeswarar Temple, just a 15-minute drive from the beach. The temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is a great example of Dravidian architecture.

  2. Day 2: Mahabalipuram
    1 hour 30 minutes (60km) from Chennai

    Take a day trip to Mahabalipuram, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visit the Shore Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Explore the Pancha Rathas, five monolithic rock-cut temples. Then, visit the Krishna’s Butterball, a huge boulder balanced on a slope. Next, visit the Mahabalipuram Beach, where you can relax with your partner. Have lunch at any of the local restaurants, and in the evening, visit the Mahabalipuram Dance Festival, held every year in the month of June. Witness the mesmerizing classical dance performances under the stars.

Chennai has many other attractions you can visit, such as the Government Museum, Fort St. George, and the Birla Planetarium. You can also plan a day trip to Pondicherry, a charming French colonial town, and witness beautiful beaches and architecture. Try the local street food and sweets such as Biryani, Idli, and Filter Coffee. To make the most of your trip, hire a private driver who can take you around to all the places you want to visit.
