4-Day Itinerary for Pondicherry in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Promenade Beach
    10 minutes (2.1 km) from the Pondicherry Airport

    Enjoy the morning at Promenade Beach, one of the most popular beaches in Pondicherry. Take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the sunrise. In the afternoon, visit the War Memorial and the French War Memorial which are located nearby. In the evening, take a walk along the beach and admire the beautiful sunset.

  2. Day 2: Explore Auroville and Matrimandir
    30 minutes (12.7 km) from Promenade Beach

    Spend the morning exploring Auroville, an experimental township that was founded in 1968. Visit the Matrimandir, an iconic golden dome structure that is a symbol of Auroville. In the afternoon, you can visit the nearby Auroville Beach and relax for a while. In the evening, head to the Matri Mandir viewing point and watch the sunset.

  3. Day 3: Visit the Arikamedu Archaeological Site and Chunnambar Boat House
    40 minutes (13.2 km) from Matrimandir

    Spend the morning exploring the Arikamedu Archaeological Site, which is an ancient Roman trading centre.
