Delhi to Ladakh, Manali, Camping - 7-Day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Leh, Ladakh

    Arrive in Leh and check-in to your hotel. Spend the morning acclimatizing to the high altitude. In the afternoon, visit the Thiksey Monastery, known for its impressive architecture and stunning views of the surrounding mountains. In the evening, head to Shanti Stupa for a breathtaking view of the sunset.

  2. Day 2: Nubra Valley
    Distance from Leh: 126 km
    Travel time: 4h 30m

    Drive to the Nubra Valley, known for its beautiful sand dunes and the double-humped Bactrian camels. Visit the Diskit Monastery, the largest and oldest monastery in the valley. Take a camel ride on the sand dunes in the evening and spend the night in a traditional Ladakhi homestay.

  3. Day 3: Pangong Tso
    Distance from Nubra Valley: 170 km
    Travel time: 5h 30m

    Drive to Pangong Tso, one of the most beautiful high-altitude lakes in the world. Spend the day admiring the changing colors of the lake and the surrounding mountains. In the evening, camp by the lake under the stars.

  4. Day 4: Leh

    Drive back to Leh and spend the day exploring the town. Visit the Leh Palace, a former royal palace overlooking the town, and the Namgyal Tsemo Monastery, known for its beautiful frescoes. In the evening, stroll through the local market and try some delicious Ladakhi food.

  5. Day 5: Manali
    Distance from Leh: 478 km
    Travel time: 12h

    Drive to Manali, a popular hill station in Himachal Pradesh. Stop at the Rohtang Pass for stunning views of the surrounding mountains and landscapes. In the evening, explore the town and visit the Hadimba Temple, dedicated to the wife of the Pandava prince Bhima from the Mahabharata.

  6. Day 6: Solang Valley
    Distance from Manali: 14 km
    Travel time: 30m

    Take a day trip to Solang Valley, known for its adventure sports and beautiful mountain views. Try your hand at skiing or snowboarding in the winter, or go paragliding or ziplining in the summer. In the evening, head back to Manali for some shopping and dining.

  7. Day 7: Departure
    Kullu Manali Airport
    Distance from Manali: 51 km
    Flight time: 1h 10m

    Check out of your hotel and head to Kullu Manali Airport for your flight back to Delhi.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Zanskar Valley in Ladakh or the Great Himalayan National Park in Himachal Pradesh. For side trips, you can go trekking in Ladakh or visit the hot springs in Manikaran. To maximize your fun, try some of the local cuisine and attend a cultural event or festival.
