3-Day Bangalore to Wayanad and Ooty Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Wayanad
    From Bangalore to Wayanad - 6 hours 30 minutes (300 km)
    Morning:

    Start your day by visiting the Edakkal Caves, an ancient historical spot with rock carvings and paintings. After the caves, visit the Soochipara Falls, a three-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush greenery.

    Afternoon:

    For lunch, try traditional Kerala cuisine at Jubilee Restaurant. After lunch, head to the Banasura Sagar Dam, the largest earth dam in India. Take a boat ride on the dam's reservoir and enjoy the scenic views.

    Evening:

    End your day by visiting the Pookode Lake, a freshwater lake in the Wayanad district. Take a walk around the lake and enjoy the tranquil setting.

  2. Day 2: Ooty
    From Wayanad to Ooty - 4 hours (110 km)
    Morning:

    Begin your day with a visit to the Ooty Botanical Gardens, home to a variety of exotic plants and flowers. After that, visit the Doddabetta Peak, the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains, for a panoramic view of the surrounding area.

    Afternoon:

    For lunch, try the Indian and Chinese cuisine at Shinkow's Restaurant. After lunch, take a ride on the Nilgiri Mountain Railway, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that passes through stunning landscapes and scenic views.

    Evening:

    End your day by visiting the Ooty Lake, a man-made lake surrounded by eucalyptus trees. Take a boat ride on the lake and enjoy the stunning views of the sunset.

  3. Day 3: Ooty
    Morning:

    Begin your day by visiting the Pykara Lake and Waterfalls, a beautiful lake and waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. After that, visit the Government Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the Nilgiri region.

    Afternoon:

    For lunch, try the Indian and Continental cuisine at Earl's Secret. After lunch, visit the St. Stephen's Church, built in 1829, a beautiful example of colonial-era Gothic architecture.

    Evening:

    End your day by visiting the Tea Museum, which showcases the history and production of tea in the region. Sample some local tea and purchase some varieties to bring back home as souvenirs.

Recommendations

For an additional local attraction, visit the Rose Garden in Ooty, which has over 20,000 varieties of roses. For a side trip, head to Coonoor, a hill station near Ooty, to visit the Sim's Park, a botanical garden with a variety of plants and trees. To maximize your fun, consider renting a motorcycle or scooter to explore the scenic roads between Wayanad and Ooty. Don't forget to bring appropriate clothing for the monsoon season!
