5-Day City Experiences Itinerary for Goa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Old Goa
    30 minutes (10.5 km) from Dabolim International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses the tomb of St. Francis Xavier. In the afternoon, explore the Sé Cathedral, the largest church in Asia and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In the evening, take a stroll along the Mandovi River and enjoy the sunset at Miramar Beach.

  2. Day 2: Panaji
    15 minutes (6.5 km) from Old Goa

    In the morning, visit the Museum of Goa to learn about the state's art, history, and culture. In the afternoon, explore the Fontainhas neighbourhood, a charming Latin Quarter with colourful houses and narrow streets. In the evening, take a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River.

  3. Day 3: Mapusa
    30 minutes (17.7 km) from Panaji

    In the morning, visit the Mapusa Market, a bustling marketplace that sells everything from fresh produce to souvenirs. In the afternoon, head to the Chapora Fort for panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. In the evening, relax on the Vagator Beach and watch the waves.

  4. Day 4: Margao
    40 minutes (28.5 km) from Mapusa

    In the morning, visit the Our Lady of Grace Church, a stunning example of Portuguese architecture. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Colva Beach, a long stretch of white sand dotted with beach shacks. In the evening, savour some traditional Goan cuisine at a local restaurant.

  5. Day 5: Ponda
    30 minutes (16.5 km) from Margao

    In the morning, visit the Shri Manguesh Temple, one of the most prominent temples in Goa. In the afternoon, head to the nearby Butterfly Conservatory and admire the colourful winged creatures. In the evening, take a leisurely walk through the Sahakari Spice Farm and learn about Goan spices and herbs.

Aside from the above itinerary, other local attractions, events, or experiences to consider include taking a hot air balloon ride over Goa's scenic landscape, attending a fado music performance at a local bar, and trying out some water sports at Calangute Beach. For a side trip, visit the Dudhsagar Falls or the Bondla Wildlife Sanctuary. To maximize your fun, try to plan your itinerary around Goa's many festivals, such as the Carnival or the Feast of St. Francis Xavier.
