5-Day Foodie Itinerary for Goa - June 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Mapusa Market
    30 minutes (9.1 miles) from Goa International Airport

    Start your foodie adventure by visiting Mapusa Market, one of the oldest markets in Goa. The market is known for its fresh produce, seafood, and spices. In the morning, you can try breakfast at one of the local stalls serving pao bhaji, a delicious Goan street food dish. In the afternoon, explore the different stalls and try some of the local fruits like mangoes and pineapples. For dinner, try some of the seafood dishes at the market's food court.

  2. Day 2: Tour of the Latin Quarter and Panaji
    25 minutes (7.9 miles) from Mapusa Market

    Take a guided tour of Fontainhas, the Latin Quarter of Panaji. In the morning, try some of the local Goan bread, poi, for breakfast at a local bakery. In the afternoon, explore the colorful streets and appreciate the Portuguese architecture. For dinner, head to the nearby Panaji for authentic Goan cuisine at one of the many restaurants like Viva Panjim or The Black Sheep Bistro.

  3. Day 3: Spice Plantation Tour
    1 hour 30 minutes (37.4 miles) from Panaji

    Take a tour of a spice plantation in Ponda and learn about the history and cultivation of Indian spices. In the morning, enjoy a traditional Goan breakfast at the plantation. In the afternoon, explore the plantation and try some of the exotic fruits like jackfruit and custard apple. For dinner, head to the nearby Mahalaxmi temple and try some of the local vegetarian dishes at the temple's canteen.

  4. Day 4: Beach Hopping
    30 minutes (12.1 miles) from Ponda

    Spend the day beach hopping and trying some of the local beach shacks. Start with breakfast at Curlie's in Anjuna and then head to the nearby Vagator Beach for some sun and sand. In the afternoon, head to Baga Beach and try some of the seafood at Britto's. For dinner, head to Calangute Beach for some traditional Goan fish curry at Souza Lobo.

  5. Day 5: Cooking Class and Market Tour
    45 minutes (14.7 miles) from Calangute Beach

    Take a cooking class to learn how to make some of the traditional Goan dishes you've been enjoying. Start with a tour of the local market to buy fresh ingredients. In the morning, learn how to make dishes like vindaloo or sorpotel. In the afternoon, enjoy the dishes you've prepared. For dinner, head to Mum's Kitchen in Panaji for some authentic Goan cuisine.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider taking a side trip to the Dudhsagar Falls or the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. You can also try some of the street food in the night markets like the Saturday Night Market in Arpora or the Mackie's Night Bazaar in Baga.
