2-Day Adventure Itinerary from Guwahati to Kedarnath, Uttarakhand in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Guwahati to Nainital, Uttarakhand
    9 hours (377 miles) from Guwahati

    Morning: Start your day early and head towards Nainital, a picturesque hill station nestled in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. Take a break at Ramnagar and visit the Jim Corbett National Park to spot some wildlife.
    Afternoon: Reach Nainital and take a stroll along the Naini Lake. Visit the Naina Devi Temple, located on the northern shore of the lake.
    Evening: Enjoy a cable car ride to the Snow View Point for panoramic views of the Himalayan range. Spend the evening exploring Mall Road, shopping for souvenirs and trying local street food.

  2. Day 2: Nainital to Kedarnath
    7 hours (142 miles) from Nainital

    Morning: Start your day early and drive towards Gaurikund. From there, trek to Kedarnath, one of the holiest Hindu shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. The trek is challenging, but the scenic beauty of the Himalayas makes it worthwhile.
    Afternoon: On arrival, visit the Kedarnath Temple, which is made of massive stone slabs over a rectangular platform. Take a dip in the holy Kedarnath Mandakini River for spiritual cleansing.
    Evening: Sit by the river and soak in the tranquility of the place. Overnight stay in Kedarnath.

Recommendations

If you have time, visit the Bhimtal Lake in Nainital for sailing and kayaking. You can also visit the Tiffin Top for panoramic views of the Kumaon Himalayas. In Kedarnath, visit the Gandhi Sarovar and Vasuki Tal for their scenic beauty. Make sure to pack comfortable trekking shoes, warm clothes, and rain gear. Consider hiring a local guide for a safe and enjoyable trek. You can also take a detour to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib for a longer pilgrimage trip.
