4-Day Itinerary for Goa in December 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Basilica of Bom Jesus
    30 minutes (15 miles) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, visit the famous Basilica of Bom Jesus that houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. The architecture of the church is breathtaking and a perfect place for some serene and peaceful time. In the afternoon, head to the Anjuna Beach, known for its white sand and sparkling water. You can enjoy the watersports or just relax and have a sunbath. In the evening, visit the Saturday Night Market at Arpora that offers a plethora of shopping options, live music, and food.

  2. Day 2: Explore the Spice Plantations
    1 hour 20 minutes (45 miles) from Anjuna Beach

    Start your morning by visiting the spice plantations in Ponda. You can take a guided tour and see how various spices are grown and processed. In the afternoon, head to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, which is a 4-tiered waterfall surrounded by lush green forests. In the evening, take a stroll on the Miramar Beach and enjoy the beautiful sunset.

  3. Day 3: Visit the Forts and Temples
    1 hour 10 minutes (30 miles) from Dudhsagar Waterfalls

    Start your day by visiting the Aguada Fort, which was built by the Portuguese in the 17th century. The fort offers some stunning views of the sea. After that, head to the Mangueshi Temple, a beautiful temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, visit the Chapora Fort, which is famous for its appearance in the Bollywood movie, Dil Chahta Hai. You can enjoy some scenic views from the fort. In the evening, head to the Baga Beach and enjoy some seafood.

  4. Day 4: Relax on the Beaches
    1 hour (18 miles) from Baga Beach

    On the last day, relax on the beaches of Goa. Start with the Calangute Beach, which is known for its water sports activities. You can try parasailing, jet skiing, or banana boat riding. In the afternoon, head to the Vagator Beach, which is famous for its red cliffs and the Chapora Fort view. You can relax on the beach or enjoy the drinks and music at the shacks. In the evening, head to the Arambol Beach, which is a perfect place to unwind and enjoy some peace and quiet.

If you have an extra day, you can visit the Cotigao Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to a variety of flora and fauna. You can also take a day trip to the neighbouring state of Karnataka and visit the Gokarna Beach. To maximize your fun in Goa, try to attend the Sunburn Festival, which is held in December. You can also indulge in some Goan cuisine, especially the seafood. Some of the must-try dishes include fish curry rice, prawn vindaloo, and sorpotel. Lastly, make sure to visit a local feni distillery and taste the famous drink of Goa.
