Discovering Manali in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Visit the Hadimba Devi Temple

    In the morning, visit the Hadimba Devi Temple, a beautiful ancient Hindu temple with a charmingly crafted wooden doorway and a four-tiered pagoda-shaped roof.   2. Day 2: Rohtang Pass

    Early in the morning, drive to Rohtang Pass, a high mountain pass that offers breathtaking views of the Himalayas. Enjoy adventure activities like skiing, snowboarding, and snowmobiling or simply revel in the serene surroundings. In the evening, return to Manali and have a delicious dinner at a local restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Vashisht Hot Springs

    Start your day with a dip in the natural hot springs of Vashisht and relax in the therapeutic waters. Visit the nearby Vashisht Temple, which is believed to be more than 4000 years old.   4. Day 4: Solang Valley

  5. Day 5: Naggar Castle
    1 hour (20.5 km) from Manali

    Visit Naggar Castle, an ancient stone and wood structure built in the 15th century. Explore the castle museum, which showcases traditional Himachal artifacts, and enjoy the stunning views of the Kullu Valley. In the afternoon, visit the Nicholas Roerich Art Gallery, which displays the works of the Russian artist who made his home in Naggar. In the evening, have a cup of tea and relax at a local café.

  6. Day 6: Manikaran Gurudwara
    2 hours 30 minutes (80.5 km) from Manali

    Travel to Manikaran, a pilgrimage site for Hindus and Sikhs. Visit the Manikaran Gurudwara, which has hot springs that are believed to have curative properties. Take a dip in the springs and enjoy a langar meal at the gurudwara. In the evening, return to Manali and spend some time at the River Beas, which has many scenic spots for a picnic or a relaxing stroll.

Recommendations

If you have time, do not miss visiting the Himalayan National Park, which is home to many endangered species of animals and birds. You can also go for a day trip to Kullu, a scenic valley town located just 40 minutes from Manali. To make the most of your trip, consider hiring a local guide who can show you around and help you get a deeper understanding of the local culture and customs. Do not forget to try the local cuisine, which is a blend of Himachali and Tibetan flavors, and buy some souvenirs to take back home.
