Himachal Adventure Itinerary - September 2023

  1. Day 1: Shimla
    3 hours (85.8 km) from Chandigarh

    In the morning, visit the Viceregal Lodge, famous for its neo-gothic architecture. In the afternoon, trek to Jakhu Temple and enjoy a panoramic view of Shimla. In the evening, explore The Ridge and Mall Road for shopping and local food.

  2. Day 2: Manali
    8 hours (248 km) from Shimla

    Start the day by driving to Solang Valley for adventure activities like paragliding, zorbing and skiing. In the afternoon, visit Hadimba Temple and take a stroll in the Old Manali. In the evening, relax by the Beas River and enjoy a bonfire.

  3. Day 3: Kullu
    1 hour (40 km) from Manali

    Embark on a white-water rafting adventure in the morning. Take a short drive to Bijli Mahadev Temple, situated on a hilltop, in the afternoon. Enjoy the scenic view of Kullu valley from the temple. In the evening, take a walk around the Naggar Castle and admire the architecture.

  4. Day 4: Dharamshala
    6 hours (213 km) from Kullu

    Visit the Namgyal Monastery, the largest Tibetan temple outside of Tibet, in the morning. In the afternoon, trek to Triund and enjoy the view of Dhauladhar Range. In the evening, visit the Dalai Lama Temple and take part in the evening chanting ceremony.

    In the morning, go on a trek to Kheerganga and take a dip in the hot springs. In the afternoon, visit Manikaran Sahib, a famous gurudwara with hot springs. In the evening, take a walk around the Kasol market and try some Israeli food.

  7. Day 7: Chandigarh
    8 hours (290 km) from Kasol

    In the morning, visit the beautiful Rock Garden and Rose Garden of Chandigarh. In the afternoon, take a boat ride in Sukhna Lake. In the evening, explore Sector 17 market and enjoy local street food.

Recommendations

Other attractions worth considering are the Kangra Fort, Masroor Rock Cut Temple and Prashar Lake. You can also take a side trip to Leh-Ladakh or Spiti Valley for a more challenging adventure.
