City Experiences in Kerala - 4 Day Itinerary in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Explore Fort Kochi
    1 hour 10 minutes (20 miles) from Cochin International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Chinese Fishing Nets and see local fisherman in action. Adjacent to the nets is the Vasco da Gama Square, a picturesque spot to take in the views of the Arabian Sea and the nearby St. Francis Church. In the afternoon, explore the Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, and admire the exquisite murals. Later, visit the Jew Town and indulge in some shopping for souvenirs such as spices and antique pieces. In the evening, make your way to the waterfront promenade and enjoy a beautiful sunset.

  2. Day 2: Discover Thrissur
    2 hours 20 minutes (63 miles) from Fort Kochi

    Start the morning at the Vadakkunnathan Temple, a magnificent temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. Then, visit the Thrissur Zoo and take a stroll amongst the various animals and birds. In the afternoon, head to the Athirapally Waterfalls, the largest waterfall in Kerala, and enjoy the spectacular views. End the day by attending a Kathakali performance, a traditional dance form of Kerala, at the Kerala Kalamandalam.

  3. Day 3: Experience Kozhikode
    2 hours 50 minutes (94 miles) from Thrissur

    Start the morning by visiting the Beypore Beach, a serene and peaceful spot. Then, head to the Kozhikode Beach and enjoy some water sports such as parasailing and jet skiing. In the afternoon, visit the Mananchira Square and take a leisurely walk around the beautiful park. Later, visit the Kappad Beach, the spot where Vasco da Gama landed in 1498, and relax by the shore. In the evening, try some local delicacies such as the famous Kozhikode Biriyani.

  4. Day 4: Explore Kochi
    4 hours 20 minutes (143 miles) from Kozhikode

    In the morning, explore the Hill Palace Museum, a museum showcasing the history and artifacts of the Royal family of Kochi. Then, visit the Bolgatty Palace and take a tour around the beautiful property. In the afternoon, wander through the streets of Jew Town in Kochi and take in the beautiful architecture of the Paradesi Synagogue and the Dutch Cemetery. End the day with a Kathakali performance at the Kerala Folklore Theatre and Museum.

If you have time, take a day trip to Munnar and explore the beautiful tea estates. You can also visit the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in Thekkady and take a boat ride on the lake to spot various species of animals. For adventure seekers, try trekking at the Chembra Peak in Wayanad. To maximize your fun, try some local street food such as the appam and stew or the puttu and kadala curry.
