4-Day Kerala, Koorg, and Munnar Itinerary for City Experiences in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Kochi
    30 minutes (13 miles) from Kochi International Airport

    Start your city experiences in Kochi with a visit to the Mattancherry Palace, also known as the Dutch Palace, which was built by the Portuguese and later renovated by the Dutch. In the afternoon, take a stroll through the Jew Town and visit the Paradesi Synagogue, the oldest active synagogue in the Commonwealth of Nations. End the day with a Kathakali dance performance, a traditional Indian dance form that tells stories through facial expressions and gestures.

  2. Day 2: Mysore
    6 hours (225 miles) from Kochi

    Take a day trip to Mysore, known as the cultural capital of Karnataka. Visit the Mysore Palace, a stunning example of Indo-Saracenic architecture and the residence of the Wadiyar dynasty. In the afternoon, explore the Devaraja Market, a bustling market selling everything from fragrant flowers to colorful spices. End the day with a visit to the Chamundeshwari Temple, located on top of Chamundi Hill and offering panoramic views of the city.

  3. Day 3: Coorg
    3.5 hours (110 miles) from Mysore

    Start your day in Coorg with a visit to the Namdroling Monastery, also known as the Golden Temple, which houses over 5,000 monks. In the afternoon, go for a hike in the Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuary, home to a variety of flora and fauna including elephants, tigers, and leopards. End the day with a cup of locally grown coffee at a plantation and learn about the coffee-making process.

  4. Day 4: Munnar
    4 hours (100 miles) from Coorg

    Visit the Eravikulam National Park in the morning, a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its endangered Nilgiri Tahr and Neelakurinji flowers that bloom once every 12 years. In the afternoon, explore the tea plantations of Munnar, which produce some of the best tea in India. End the day with a visit to the Top Station, located on the border of Kerala and Tamil Nadu and offering stunning views of the Western Ghats.
