The first stop on our 2-day trip to North Goa is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Old Goa. Here you will find beautiful churches, cathedrals and convents with rich history and architecture that date back to the 16th century. After a leisurely morning exploring these cultural gems, head over to the Fontainhas neighbourhood for lunch. This Latin Quarter is perfect for a relaxed afternoon stroll admiring the colourful colonial-era homes. End your day with a visit to the vibrant Mapusa Friday Market, famous for its fresh produce, handmade crafts and souvenirs.
Start your day early at the stunning beaches of Morjim and Ashwem. These beaches are less crowded and have a more laid-back vibe than some of the more popular ones. After a morning of sun, sand and sea, head over to the picturesque Vagator Beach, famous for its red cliffs and stunning sunsets. Spend your evening at the lively Baga Beach, known for its shacks, pubs and nightlife.
If you have more time in North Goa, you can consider visiting the spice plantations, Dudhsagar Falls or taking a cruise down the Mandovi River. You can also indulge in water sports activities or take a yoga class. If you want to maximise your fun, plan your trip around the Goa Carnival in February or the Sunburn Festival in December. For side trips, you can visit the neighbouring states of Maharashtra or Karnataka or take a ferry to the beautiful Divar Island.
