Ooty and Coonoor 3-Day Itinerary for June 2023

  1. Day 1: Ooty Botanical Gardens
    10 minutes (3.4 km) from Ooty Lake

    In the morning, you can explore the beautiful Ooty Botanical Gardens and witness the variety of flora including the fossil of a tree that is believed to be more than 20 million years old. In the afternoon, take a 15-minute drive to the Doddabetta Peak which is the highest point in the Nilgiri Mountains. From the peak, you can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys. In the evening, visit the Ooty Lake, go boating and relax by the lake.

  2. Day 2: Coonoor Tea Estate
    1 hour (20 km) from Ooty Botanical Gardens

    Start your morning with a visit to the Coonoor Tea Estate which takes you through a guided tour of the tea-making process. You can also take a scenic walk around the estate and enjoy the fresh air. In the afternoon, head over to the Sim’s Park which is a botanical garden that houses a variety of trees and plants from around the world. In the evening, take a stroll around the Heritage Railway Station and enjoy the colonial architecture of the building.

  3. Day 3: Nilgiri Mountain Railway
    30 minutes (21 km) from Coonoor Tea Estate

    In the morning, take a ride on the historic Nilgiri Mountain Railway which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The train journey takes you through the Nilgiri Mountains, passing through tunnels, bridges and lush green forests. After the train ride, visit the Government Rose Garden which houses more than 20,000 varieties of roses. In the evening, explore the St. Stephen's Church which is a 19th-century Gothic-style church that has beautiful stained-glass windows and architecture.
