Transportation

Getting around Istanbul can be both easy and difficult. The city is served by buses, trams, metro, and taxis. Taking a taxi or Uber can be the best option if you're traveling in a group or carrying luggage, but be prepared for traffic. Public transport is cheaper but can be crowded during peak times. Traveling between the airport and the city center costs around 45 TL (around £4) by taxi and takes about 40 minutes.

Useful Tips

If you have more time, you can take a Bosphorus cruise or visit the Basilica Cistern. If you have less time, skip the Princes' Islands or Topkapi Palace. Dress modestly when visiting a mosque, and plan your Grand Bazaar visit in the morning to avoid crowds.

Airports

Istanbul Airport (IST) is the main international airport serving Istanbul and is located 40 km northwest of the city center. Sabiha Gökçen International Airport (SAW) is a secondary airport located on the Asian side of Istanbul, about 50 km southeast of the city center. Both airports have good transportation links to the city center.
