Transportation in Thailand is relatively affordable. Taxis, tuk-tuks, and buses are readily available in urban areas, while domestic air travel is also an option. Expect to spend around ฿200-500 for short distance transportation (e.g. around Bangkok), and around ฿1,500 for domestic flights between cities. The Thailand Train System, a great way to see the country, is currently under modernization and currently costly.
If you have more time, consider visiting other popular destinations such as Koh Samui, Krabi, or Ayutthaya. For a more relaxed and peaceful honeymoon, consider spending more days in Chiang Mai or one of the other more tranquil spots in the country. On the other hand, if you have less time, consider reducing the number of destinations to avoid feeling overwhelmed with the fast pace of travel. Be sure to also dress modestly for temple tours and bring comfortable shoes for walking around Bangkok’s crowded streets.
Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK) is Thailand’s busiest airport and located 30km from central Bangkok. The airport serves as the primary hub for domestic and international flights from most major cities around the world. Phuket International Airport (HKT) is the second busiest and located 32km from Phuket’s city center -- there are many daily flights connecting it to Bangkok.
