Wayand Itinerary for 2 Days

  1. Day 1: Edakkal Caves
    40 minutes (14.5 km) from Sultan Bathery
    Opening Hours: 9:30 AM - 4:30 PM

    Start your day with a visit to the Edakkal Caves. These natural caves are home to ancient petroglyphs and are located on top of Ambukutty Mala. It takes around 45 minutes to reach the top through a steep trek, but the view from the top is worth it. Spend your morning exploring the caves and admiring the carvings. After lunch, head to the nearby Karapuzha Dam which is a 30-minute drive away. The dam is a perfect spot for a picnic with your family or friends. In the evening, head to the Pookode Lake, a 25-minute drive from the dam, and enjoy a boat ride while taking in the beautiful scenery.

  2. Day 2: Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (47.5 km) from Kalpetta
    Opening Hours: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM, 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM

    Start your day early and head to the Wayanad Wildlife Sanctuary. The sanctuary is home to several endangered species including tigers, elephants, and leopards. Take a jeep safari through the sanctuary and witness the animals in their natural habitat. After lunch, head to the nearby Soochipara Waterfalls, a 45-minute drive from the sanctuary. The waterfall is located in a beautiful valley and offers a scenic view. You can swim in the pool formed by the waterfall or simply relax and enjoy the view. In the evening, head to the nearby Chembra Peak which is a 40-minute drive from the waterfall. The trek to the top takes around 3-4 hours but the view from the top is breathtaking. Spend your evening watching the sunset from the peak before heading back to your hotel.

Apart from the above-mentioned places, you can also visit the Banasura Sagar Dam, the Thirunelli Temple, and the Muthanga Wildlife Sanctuary. If you have more time, you can also consider visiting the Brahmagiri Peak or taking a trip to the nearby town of Sulthan Bathery.
