3-Day Itinerary for Mumbai in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Gateway of India
    20 minutes (8.3 km) from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus

    Start your day with a visit to the iconic Gateway of India, a monument built to commemorate the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Mumbai in 1911. Take a boat ride to the nearby Elephanta Caves and explore the ancient rock-cut temples and sculptures. Afternoon, visit Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Vastu Sangrahalaya, a museum showcasing the art, culture, and history of India. In the evening, enjoy a sunset view of the Arabian Sea and the Mumbai skyline from the Gateway of India.

  2. Day 2: Marine Drive
    10 minutes (4.6 km) from Gateway of India

    Start your day with a visit to the historic Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the busiest railway stations in India. Later, head to the Marine Drive, a 3.6 km-long boulevard overlooking the Arabian Sea. Take a walk along the promenade and enjoy the sea breeze. In the afternoon, visit the Haji Ali Dargah, a mosque located on an islet in the Arabian Sea. In the evening, explore the vibrant street markets of Colaba Causeway and indulge in some street food.

  3. Day 3: Bandra
    25 minutes (10 km) from Marine Drive

    Start your day with a visit to the Siddhivinayak Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Ganesha. Later, head to Bandra, a vibrant neighborhood known for its street art, trendy cafes, and high-end boutiques. Visit the Bandra Fort, a 17th-century Portuguese fort overlooking the Arabian Sea. In the afternoon, visit the Mount Mary Church, a Roman Catholic Basilica known for its annual Bandra Fair. In the evening, enjoy the nightlife of Bandra at one of its many bars and restaurants.

Recommendations

If you have more time, consider visiting the Sanjay Gandhi National Park, a wildlife reserve in the suburbs of Mumbai, or the Kanheri Caves, a group of rock-cut Buddhist caves located within the national park. You can also take a day trip to Alibaug, a coastal town known for its beaches and historic forts. To maximize your fun, try local street food such as vada pav, pav bhaji, and bhel puri.
