2-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Lonavala Khandala in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Lonavala

  2. Day 2: Khandala
    Starting point: Lonavala (5 km - 10 minutes)

    Morning: Visit the Kune Waterfalls, one of the highest waterfalls in Maharashtra. Take a dip in the cool waters or enjoy a picnic by the falls.

    Afternoon: Take a stroll through the lush greenery of the Duke's Nose peak. The trek is moderately challenging but the stunning view from the top is worth it.

    Evening: Grab a bite at some of Khandala's famous food joints or enjoy a scenic drive along the Mumbai-Pune Expressway.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, visit the ancient Karla Caves, a series of rock-cut Buddhist shrines dating back to the 2nd century BC. The scenic views of the Western Ghats from the caves are breathtaking. Another option is to visit the Lohagad Fort, an important historical site located near Lonavala. If you're up for a longer drive, head to Lavasa, a picturesque town nestled in the Sahyadri Mountains, or to the ancient hill station of Matheran, which offers stunning views of the valley below.
