    20 minutes (7.5km) from Lonavala

In the morning, visit the Karla Caves, a complex of ancient Buddhist rock-cut caves. These caves are a fine example of Indian rock-cut architecture and house some of the oldest Buddhist shrines in India. In the afternoon, explore the nearby Bhaja Caves, which are smaller but equally impressive. Take a break from the heat and head back to Lonavala for a refreshing drink by the pool or a stroll around the town. In the evening, head to the Shri Narayani Dham Temple to witness the evening aarti and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

  2. Day 2: Rajmachi Fort
    35 minutes (15km) from Lonavala

Start early and head to Rajmachi Fort, a historic fortification perched atop a hill. The trek to the top takes about 2 hours and offers stunning views of the surrounding valleys and waterfalls. In the afternoon, cool off at the Kune Falls, one of the highest waterfalls in Maharashtra. Take a dip in the refreshing pool at the bottom of the falls. In the evening, visit the Wax Museum in Lonavala and get a glimpse of the history and culture of India through the wax statues.

  3. Day 3: Tiger's Point
    25 minutes (11km) from Lonavala

Start early and head to Tiger's Point, a scenic viewpoint that offers panoramic views of the Sahyadri Mountains. Take a leisurely walk along the cliff and enjoy the fresh mountain air. In the afternoon, visit the Lonavala Lake and take a boat ride to explore the surroundings. In the evening, enjoy a traditional Maharashtrian thali at one of the local restaurants, followed by a stroll around the Lonavala Bazaar to pick up souvenirs.

Recommendations

If you have the time, consider taking a day trip to the nearby hill station of Khandala, which is just a 20-minute drive from Lonavala. The Duke's Nose trek and the Sunset Point are popular attractions here. Another great side trip is to visit the Pawna Lake, which is about an hour's drive from Lonavala and offers opportunities for camping, kayaking, and other outdoor activities. To maximize your fun, consider hiring a bike or a car to explore the surrounding areas at your own pace.
