One Day Itinerary for Madgaon in June 2023

  1. 9:00 AM: Colva Beach
    10 minutes (4.3 km) from Madgaon

    Start your day with a visit to South Goa's most popular beach. Colva Beach was once a retreat for Margao's wealthy, but now it's a favorite among locals and tourists alike. The beach has a long shoreline perfect for long walks, and there are plenty of shacks and restaurants offering delicious seafood and drinks.

  2. 11:00 AM: Rachol Fort
    20 minutes (9.8 km) from Colva Beach

    Next, head to Rachol Fort, situated on the banks of the Zuari River. The fort was built by the Portuguese in the 16th century and was later occupied by the Marathas. The fort is now in ruins, but visitors come here for the beautiful views of the surrounding countryside and to explore the nearby Rachol Seminary, one of the oldest educational institutions in Goa.

  3. 1:00 PM: Martin's Corner
    10 minutes (4.5 km) from Rachol Fort

    For lunch, head to Martin's Corner, a popular restaurant known for its Goan cuisine. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere, and the menu features traditional Goan dishes like prawn curry, fish recheado, and pork vindaloo. Be sure to try their signature cocktail, the Goan Punch.

  4. 3:00 PM: Big Foot Museum
    25 minutes (11.5 km) from Martin's Corner

    After lunch, visit the Big Foot Museum, a cultural center that showcases Goan art and architecture. The museum is set in a sprawling village complex, and visitors can see traditional Goan houses, a spice garden, and a handicraft center. The highlight of the museum is the "Big Foot," a giant footprint that is said to have belonged to a mythical creature.

  5. 5:00 PM: Sunset Cruise
    20 minutes (10.4 km) from Big Foot Museum

    End your day with a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River. The cruise takes you past the Panjim skyline and offers stunning views of the sunset. You can also enjoy live music and dance performances on board, along with snacks and drinks.

If you have more time to explore, consider visiting the Margao Market, a bustling marketplace that sells everything from spices to souvenirs. You can also take a day trip to the Dudhsagar Waterfalls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India.
