Exploring Gujarat in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Ahmedabad City
    15 minutes (5.2 km) from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport

    Start your day with a visit to Sabarmati Ashram, which was the home of Mahatma Gandhi during India's freedom struggle.   2. Day 2: Adalaj Stepwell and Modhera Sun Temple
    1 hour 10 minutes (23.3 km) from Ahmedabad City

    Visit Adalaj Stepwell in the morning, a five-storey stepwell known for its intricate carvings and beautiful architecture. In the afternoon, travel to Modhera Sun Temple, one of the finest examples of Hindu temple architecture in Gujarat. End your day with the sound and light show at the temple.

  3. Day 3: Dwarka City

  4. Day 4: Somnath Temple and Gir National Park

    Visit the iconic Somnath Temple, which is one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, head to Gir National Park, which is home to the Asiatic lion. Take a jeep safari to explore the jungle and spot some wildlife. End your day with a bonfire and stargazing at the Gir Birding Lodge.

  5. Day 5: Bhuj City
    7 hours (290 km) from Gir National Park

    Start your day with a visit to the Kutch Museum, which showcases the history and culture of the Kutch region. In the afternoon, explore the Bhujodi Village, known for its handicrafts and textile industry. End your day with a beautiful sunset at the White Desert, also known as the Rann of Kutch.

  6. Day 6: Palitana Jain Temples
    6 hours 30 minutes (275 km) from Bhuj City

    Visit the Palitana Jain Temples, which are considered to be the holiest pilgrimage sites for Jains. The temples are located on a hill, which can be accessed by climbing 3,800 steps. Enjoy the breathtaking views and architecture of the temples. End your day with a traditional Gujarati Thali at a local restaurant.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the famous Sabarmati Riverfront in Ahmedabad or the Akshardham Temple in Gandhinagar. You can also take a side trip to the Little Rann of Kutch, which is home to the endangered Indian Wild Ass.
