Tirupati 2-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Sri Venkateswara Temple
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Tirupati Airport

    In the morning, visit the Sri Venkateswara Temple, one of the most famous Hindu temples in the world. It is located on the seventh peak of the Tirumala Hills and is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. Afternoon, visit the nearby Talakona Waterfalls, located in the Sri Venkateswara National Park. The waterfall is about 270 feet tall and is surrounded by dense forests. In the evening, head to the Regional Science Centre, a science museum with interactive exhibits and a planetarium.

  2. Day 2: Chandragiri Fort and Srikalahasti Temple
    1 hour (20 km) from Tirupati

    Start your morning by visiting Chandragiri Fort, a 11th-century fort built by the Yadava Naidus. The fort has a museum that displays artefacts and antiques. In the afternoon, take a 40-minute drive to Srikalahasti Temple, a popular Shiva temple located on the banks of the Swarnamukhi River. The temple's gopuram (tower) is one of the tallest in India. In the evening, visit the Sri Vari Museum, which showcases the history of the Sri Venkateswara Temple and the Tirumala area.

Recommendations

If you have time, consider visiting the Sri Padmavathi Ammavari Temple, located in Tiruchanur, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu's wife, Padmavathi. You can also take a day trip to the city of Chennai, which is about 150 km away from Tirupati. If you want to maximize your fun, consider hiring a local guide who can provide more insights into the history and culture of the region. Don't forget to try the local cuisine, such as the famous Tirupati laddu.
