2-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary for Ujjain in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Mahakaleshwar Temple

Afterward, have breakfast at the nearby Anand Bazaar and try out the famous local delicacies like Poha and Jalebi. Spend the afternoon exploring the ancient Vedha Shala (observatory) and the Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observation site built-in 1725 CE. In the evening, attend the 'Bhramar Geet' at the Harsiddhi Mata temple, a devotional song sung by the temple's priest during the aarti ceremony.

  2. Day 2: Kaliadeh Palace and Ram Ghat

    Begin the day with a visit to the Kaliadeh Palace, situated on the banks of the Shipra River. It was built during the reign of the Scindias in the 18th century and is a perfect example of Hindu-Muslim architecture. Afterward, head to the nearby Ram Ghat, one of the most sacred ghats in Ujjain, to witness the daily Ganga Aarti. Take a boat ride from Ram Ghat to Siddhanath Temple, located on an island in the middle of the Shipra River. Enjoy the scenic beauty of the surrounding hills and the peaceful atmosphere of the temple. In the evening, explore the local markets and try out some street food at Sarafa Bazaar, famous for its Chaat and sweets.
