3-Day Trivandrum Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Padmanabhaswamy Temple
    10 minutes (3.3 km) from Trivandrum Central Station

    In the morning, visit the ancient and renowned Padmanabhaswamy Temple which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. The temple has a beautiful architecture with intricately carved pillars and a 100-foot gopuram. In the afternoon, head to Kuthira Malika Palace Museum which was built by Swathi Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore and showcases a rare collection of artifacts and paintings. In the evening, take a stroll around the Kanakakunnu Palace which is an ideal place to relax and enjoy the stunning sunset.

  2. Day 2: Kovalam Beach
    30 minutes (16 km) from Padmanabhaswamy Temple

    Begin your day at the beautiful Kovalam Beach which is famous for its pristine shores and serene environment. Relax on the beach or indulge in water sports activities such as surfing, parasailing or water skiing. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Vizhinjam Rock Cut Cave Temple which has a fascinating history and is a marvel of Indian rock architecture. Finally, head to the nearby Halcyon Castle which was built in the 1930s and now serves as a luxury hotel.

  3. Day 3: Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary
    45 minutes (32 km) from Kovalam Beach

    Begin your day at Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary which is a treasure trove of flora and fauna. Take a boat ride across the Neyyar Dam Reservoir and enjoy the lush greenery and the view of the Western Ghats. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Shanghumukham Beach which is a popular spot for swimming, sunbathing and trying out local delicacies. Finally, end your day by heading to Napier Museum which has a great collection of historical and archaeological artifacts.

If you have an extra day, consider visiting the nearby Ponmudi Hill Station which is a beautiful hill station covered with tea plantations and offers some scenic views. Another great option is to explore the backwaters of Kerala by taking a houseboat and spending a day or two cruising through the peaceful waters.
