Exploring Goa in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Fort Aguada
    1 hour (14.3 km) from Goa International Airport

    Morning: Visit the historic Fort Aguada and explore the lighthouse and the expansive fortifications built in the 17th century by the Portuguese. Enjoy the stunning panoramic views of the Arabian Sea from the top of the fort.

    Afternoon: Head to Sinquerim Beach, a few minutes walk from the fort. Take a dip in the cool waters or try some water sports like jet skiing or parasailing.

    Evening: Relax and watch the sunset while sipping on some cocktails at the nearby beach shacks.

  2. Day 2: Basilica of Bom Jesus
    20 minutes (8.8 km) from Fort Aguada

    Morning: Visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Basilica of Bom Jesus, famous for the preserved mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. Admire the exquisite Baroque architecture, the grand altars, and the beautiful paintings and frescoes.

    Afternoon: Head to the nearby Spice Plantations and take a guided tour to learn about the various spices like cardamom, cumin, turmeric, and more, and witness the traditional process of spice cultivation.

    Evening: Enjoy a traditional Goan meal like fish curry and rice at a local restaurant.

  3. Day 3: Dudhsagar Falls
    2 hours (60 km) from Basilica of Bom Jesus

    Morning: Take a thrilling jeep safari through the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary to reach the magnificent Dudhsagar Falls, one of the tallest waterfalls in India. Take a refreshing dip in the natural pool or enjoy a picnic amidst the lush greenery.

    Afternoon: Visit the nearby Tambdi Surla Temple, an ancient 12th-century temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, surrounded by the pristine forest.

    Evening: Head back to your hotel and relax after a day full of adventure.

Recommendations

If you have some extra time, you can visit the Reis Magos Fort, the Museum of Christian Art, and the Salim Ali Bird Sanctuary. For a side trip, you can take a day trip to the neighboring state of Karnataka and visit the Gokarna Beaches or the Jog Falls. For maximizing your fun, you can try some of the water sports like scuba diving, snorkeling, or windsurfing, or take a hot air balloon ride to get a bird's eye view of the beautiful state.
