Four-Day Family Friendly Itinerary for Somnath, Dwarka and Rajkot in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Somnath
    1 hour 50 minutes (82.4 miles) from Rajkot

    In the morning, visit the famous Somnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlinga shrines of Lord Shiva. Be awed by the grandeur of this historical temple and its beautiful architecture. In the afternoon, head to the beach nearby, relax and enjoy the cool breeze of the Arabian Sea. In the evening, attend the Sound and Light show which narrates the history of the temple in an engaging way.

  2. Day 2: Dwarka
    3 hours 47 minutes (160.7 miles) from Somnath

    In the morning, visit the Dwarkadheesh Temple, one of the four chardham sites and the main attraction of the city. After offering prayers at the temple, visit the Beyt Dwarka, an island situated at the mouth of the Gulf of Kutch. In the afternoon, enjoy a boat ride and spot dolphins on the way. In the evening, attend the Aarti at Dwarkadhish temple to witness a mesmerizing spiritual experience.

  3. Day 3: Rajkot
    7 hours 40 minutes (316.9 miles) from Dwarka

    In the morning, visit the Watson Museum and Library, a must-visit for history buffs. The museum houses a collection of artifacts from the colonial era and showcases the rich cultural heritage of Rajkot. In the afternoon, head to the Rotary Dolls Museum which showcases a vast collection of dolls from different parts of the world. In the evening, visit the Jagat Mandir, a beautiful temple with intricate carvings and architecture.

  4. Day 4: Rajkot
    15 minutes (3.5 miles) from Watson Museum and Library

    In the morning, visit the ISKCON Rajkot temple, a serene and peaceful place to offer prayers and seek blessings. After that, head to the Swaminarayan Gurukul, a unique school that emphasizes Vedic education and holistic development. In the afternoon, visit the Race Course Park, a beautiful park with a jogging track, a children's play area, and a musical fountain. In the evening, enjoy some delicious local cuisine at one of the many restaurants in the city.

Apart from the above mentioned places, you can also consider visiting the Pradyuman Park, which is an ideal place for picnics and family outings. The Khambhalida Caves and the Kaba Gandhi No Delo, the childhood residence of Mahatma Gandhi, are also worth visiting. You can also plan a side trip to the Gir National Park, home to the majestic Asiatic Lion.
