Exploring SriLanka in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Colombo
    30 minutes (19.1km) from Bandaranaike International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Gangaramaya Temple, a mix of Sri Lankan, Thai, Indian and Chinese architectures, featuring a museum, library and an eclectic collection of paintings, statues and artifacts. In the afternoon, head to the National Museum of Colombo, where you can learn about Sri Lanka's history, culture and art. In the evening, walk around the Galle Face Green, a popular promenade by the sea, and enjoy the sunset while snacking on local delicacies from the street vendors.

  2. Day 2: Kandy
    2 hours 30 minutes (116km) from Colombo

    Start the day by visiting the Temple of the Tooth Relic, a sacred Buddhist temple housing the tooth relic of Lord Buddha. In the afternoon, take a stroll around the Royal Botanic Gardens, a 147-acre garden featuring over 4000 species of plants, trees, and flowers. In the evening, attend a cultural dance show at the Kandy Lake Club, showcasing traditional Kandyan dance and music.

  3. Day 3: Sigiriya
    2 hours 30 minutes (98km) from Kandy

    Early in the morning, visit the Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which was built in the 5th century AD and boasts a stunning view from the top. In the afternoon, visit the Dambulla Cave Temple, featuring a complex of five caves adorned with Buddhist murals and statues. In the evening, head to the Minneriya National Park for an elephant safari and watch hundreds of elephants gather around the Minneriya water tank.
