3-Day Family-Friendly Itinerary for Somnath, Dwarka and Rajkot in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Somnath
    3 hours 30 minutes (160 km) from Rajkot

    Morning: Visit the iconic Somnath Temple, one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. The temple is open from 6 AM to 10 PM and presents a beautiful sight during the sunrise. Have breakfast at the temple's canteen which serves authentic Gujarati cuisine.

    Afternoon: Take a stroll at the Bhalka Tirtha Beach, which has a beautiful view of the Arabian Sea. Relax at the beach and grab some lunch at one of the nearby restaurants.

    Evening: Witness the mesmerizing light and sound show at the Somnath Temple. The show is available in both Hindi and English and starts at 8:00 PM. End your day with a sumptuous dinner at the temple's canteen.

  2. Day 2: Dwarka
    2 hours 20 minutes (125 km) from Somnath

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Dwarkadhish Temple, dedicated to Lord Krishna. The temple is open from 6:30 AM to 1:00 PM and from 5:00 PM to 9:30 PM. Witness the morning aarti and have breakfast at one of the nearby restaurants.

    Afternoon: Head to the beautiful Dwarka Beach for a relaxing afternoon. Enjoy water sports and indulge in some delicious seafood.

    Evening: Visit the Nageshwar Jyotirlinga Temple, and take a dip in the sacred Rukmini Kund. The temple is open from 6:00 AM to 9:00 PM and is a perfect place to end your day.

  3. Day 3: Rajkot
    4 hours 30 minutes (215 km) from Dwarka

    Morning: Start your day with a visit to the Rotary Dolls Museum, which has a vast collection of dolls from around the world. The museum is open from 10:30 AM to 1:30 PM and from 2:30 PM to 6:30 PM.

    Afternoon: Visit the Watson Museum, which has some fascinating exhibits showcasing the history and culture of Saurashtra. The museum is open from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM.

    Evening: Take a walk at the Racecourse Garden and witness the beautiful sunset. Have dinner at one of the nearby restaurants, serving authentic Gujarati cuisine.

Other places to visit in Rajkot are Kaba Gandhi No Delo and the Mahatma Gandhi High School. You can also take a side trip to the Gir National Park, which is about 2 hours (60 km) from Somnath.
