3-Day Taj Mahal Itinerary for Nature Lovers in August 2023

  1. Day 1: Taj Nature Walk
    10 minutes (2.5 km) from Agra Airport

    Start your day with a refreshing nature walk near the Taj Mahal. Located in the eastern part of the Taj Mahal complex, this trail offers stunning views of the monument and its surroundings. You can witness the sunrise and hear the chirping of birds as you walk through the lush greenery. After the walk, enjoy a healthy breakfast at the nearby Taj Nature Café. For the afternoon, visit the Agra Bear Rescue facility located 30 minutes away. Here you can see rescued sloth bears in their natural habitat. In the evening, go for a sunset boat ride on the Yamuna River located 15 minutes away.

  2. Day 2: Keetham Lake and Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary
    1 hour (25 km) from Taj Mahal

    Start your day early and head to Keetham Lake located in the Sur Sarovar Bird Sanctuary. This lake is a natural habitat for many migratory birds including Siberian cranes, pelicans, and kingfishers. You can enjoy bird watching, boating, and a picnic at the lake. For lunch, visit the nearby Sur Sarovar Restaurant and try some local delicacies. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, also known as the Baby Taj. This tomb is a beautiful example of Mughal architecture and is located 20 minutes away. In the evening, visit the Mehtab Bagh garden located opposite the Taj Mahal and enjoy a stunning view of the monument.

  3. Day 3: Chambal Safari
    2 hours 30 minutes (70 km) from Taj Mahal

    For your last day, head to the Chambal Safari located 2 hours 30 minutes away. Here you can take a boat ride on the Chambal River and witness crocodiles, Gangetic dolphins, and many species of birds. After the safari, visit the nearby National Chambal Sanctuary and explore its rich flora and fauna. For lunch, visit the nearby Ravine Palace Restaurant and try some Rajasthani cuisine. In the evening, visit the nearby Bateshwar Temples, a group of more than 100 temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. These temples are a beautiful example of Indian temple architecture.

If you have extra time, consider visiting Fatehpur Sikri, a UNESCO World Heritage Site located 1 hour 20 minutes away from Taj Mahal. You can also take a day trip to Mathura, the birthplace of Lord Krishna located 1 hour 30 minutes away.
