3-Day Cultural Immersion Itinerary in Goa in June 2023

  1. Day 1: Se Cathedral
    30 minutes (12.7 km) from Goa International Airport

    In the morning, visit the Se Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest churches in Asia. Admire the stunning Portuguese Gothic architecture and the beautiful stained glass windows. Afterward, head over to Fontainhas, the old Latin Quarter of Panaji, and take a leisurely stroll through the narrow streets lined with colorful Portuguese-style houses. Stop by the Fundação Oriente museum to learn about the history and culture of Goa. In the evening, watch a traditional Goan folk dance performance at the Kala Academy.

  2. Day 2: Ancestral Goa
    45 minutes (22.3 km) from Se Cathedral

    Start the day by visiting Ancestral Goa, a unique outdoor museum that showcases the traditional Goan way of life. Explore the recreated village and watch artisans at work. Next, head to the nearby Sahakari Spice Farm and take a guided tour of the organic farm, where you can sample fresh spices and herbs. In the afternoon, visit the Museum of Christian Art, which houses a magnificent collection of Christian artifacts and paintings. End the day with a sunset cruise on the Mandovi River.

  3. Day 3: Fort Aguada
    30 minutes (16.9 km) from Ancestral Goa

    On the last day, visit Fort Aguada, a well-preserved 17th-century Portuguese fort that offers panoramic views of the Arabian Sea. Afterward, head to the nearby Sinquerim Beach for a relaxing afternoon by the sea. In the evening, visit the Shanta Durga Temple, one of the largest and most famous temples in Goa. End the day with a delicious seafood dinner at one of the many beachside shacks.

Recommendations

Don't miss the chance to explore the beautiful Dudhsagar Falls, located about 60 km from Panaji. You can take a day trip to the falls, which are at their most impressive during the monsoon season. Another must-visit is the Basilica of Bom Jesus, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that houses the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier. If you're interested in Goan cuisine, consider taking a cooking class or a food tour to sample some of the delicious local dishes. Lastly, if you have time, take a day trip to the nearby state of Karnataka to visit the historic city of Hampi.
