Sambalpur 2-Day Itinerary

  1. Day 1: Samaleswari Temple
    10 minutes (3.5 km) from Sambalpur Railway Station

    In the morning, visit the Samaleswari Temple, one of the most famous temples in the region. This temple is dedicated to Goddess Samaleswari, an incarnation of Goddess Shakti. For lunch, try the famous Sambalpuri Thali at any of the local restaurants. In the afternoon, visit the Hirakud Dam, the longest dam in the world. Enjoy the scenic view from the top of the dam and take a boat ride in the reservoir. In the evening, head to the Gandhi Minar, a memorial built in honor of Mahatma Gandhi. You can catch the light and sound show that narrates the life of Mahatma Gandhi.

  2. Day 2: Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary

    In the morning, drive to Ushakothi Wildlife Sanctuary, a popular destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts. The sanctuary is home to a variety of animals, including elephants, tigers, leopards, and deer. Take a guided safari tour to explore the sanctuary's flora and fauna. For lunch, head to any of the local restaurants and try the famous Sambalpuri Chaat. In the afternoon, visit the Cattle Island, a small island in the middle of the Hirakud Reservoir, and take a boat ride to explore the island.
