Two-Day Nature Itinerary for Honnavara in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Murudeshwar Beach and Temple
    10 minutes (4 km) from Honnavara

    In the morning, take a dip in the Arabian sea at Murudeshwar Beach. It has clean water and lush greenery all around. You can also visit the famous Murudeshwar temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple has the world's second tallest statue of Lord Shiva, which stands at 123 feet. In the afternoon, explore the beach and indulge in some water sports activities like jet skiing, banana boat rides, and parasailing. In the evening, witness the beautiful sunset from the beach.

  2. Day 2: Sharavati Wildlife Sanctuary
    1 hour 20 minutes (60 km) from Honnavara

    Start your day early and drive to Sharavati Wildlife Sanctuary, which is home to various species of flora and fauna including tigers, leopards, elephants, and deer. You can take a safari ride to explore the sanctuary and spot some wild animals. In the afternoon, you can go for a short trek to Jog Falls, which is known for its picturesque beauty and is one of the highest waterfalls in India. In the evening, relax and enjoy the natural beauty of the place.

If you have more time, you can also visit Apsarakonda Falls, which is a small waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. Another attraction worth visiting is the Idagunji Temple, which is dedicated to Lord Ganesha. You can also go for a boat ride at the Sharavati River. To maximize your fun, try local cuisine like Neer dosa, Kundapura Koli Saaru, and Kane Rava fry. For side trips, you can visit Gokarna Beach, which is around 60 km from Honnavara. Don't forget to carry insect repellent and sunscreen as you'll be spending most of your time outdoors.
