In addition to volunteering, consider visiting the Ousteri Lake, a bird sanctuary and wetland, or the Chunnambar Boat House, offering boat rides and water sports. You can also take a day-trip to the nearby Arikamedu archaeological site, showcasing the ancient Roman trade in South India, or the Gingee Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a marvel of military architecture. To maximize your fun, try learning Tamil or French, taking a cooking or yoga class, or attending a cultural festival or concert.
