Two-Day Helsinki Itinerary for May 2024

  1. Day 1: Suomenlinna Sea Fortress
    20 minutes (4 miles) from Helsinki City Centre

    Morning: Catch a ferry to the Suomenlinna Sea Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Explore the fortress and learn about its history in the Suomenlinna Museum.

    Afternoon: Take a break and enjoy a picnic on the island. Visit the Ehrensvärd Museum or the Submarine Vesikko Museum.

    Evening: Head back to the city centre for dinner at Savotta, a traditional Finnish restaurant.

  2. Day 2: Seurasaari Open-Air Museum
    25 minutes (5.5 miles) from Helsinki City Centre

    Morning: Take a tram to Seurasaari Open-Air Museum to experience Finland's traditional way of life. Explore the island and its 87 historical buildings from different parts of Finland.

    Afternoon: Head to the Finnish National Museum to learn about Finnish history and culture.

    Evening: End the day with a visit to the Helsinki Cathedral and the surrounding Senate Square.
