3-Day Itinerary for Shimla in June 2023

  1. Day 1: The Ridge
    5 minutes (0.5 km) from Mall Road

    Start your day in Shimla with a visit to The Ridge, the heart of the city. This popular open space offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains and is the perfect spot to take a leisurely stroll. In the morning, visit Christ Church and admire its impressive architecture. In the afternoon, head to Scandal Point and learn about the history behind its intriguing name. In the evening, catch a spectacular sunset while relaxing with a cup of tea at one of the many cafes nearby.

  2. Day 2: Kufri
    1 hour 15 minutes (17 km) from The Ridge

    Escape the city and head to Kufri, a charming hill station located just outside of Shimla. In the morning, take a pony ride to the scenic Mahasu Peak and enjoy breathtaking views of the snow-capped Himalayan mountains. In the afternoon, visit the Himalayan Nature Park and get up close with some of India's most incredible wildlife. In the evening, relax and unwind at your hotel or head back into Shimla for a delicious dinner.

  3. Day 3: Viceregal Lodge
    10 minutes (3 km) from Mall Road

    Spend your final day in Shimla exploring the Viceregal Lodge, a stunning colonial-era building that once served as the summer residence of the British Viceroy of India. In the morning, take a guided tour of the building and its beautiful gardens. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Himachal State Museum and learn about the fascinating history and culture of the region. In the evening, head back to Mall Road for some last-minute shopping or a delicious meal.

Recommendations

If you have extra time, consider visiting the Jakhu Temple, one of the highest points in Shimla that offers incredible panoramic views of the city. You can also take a day trip to Chail, a picturesque hill station located just a couple of hours from Shimla. To maximize your fun, try some of the local cuisine, like chole bhature and aloo tikki, and take a stroll through some of Shimla's traditional bazaars for unique souvenirs. Lastly, be sure to check the weather before you go and pack accordingly, as the mountains can be unpredictable.
