Kedarnath and Haridwar 5-Day Itinerary for September 2023

  1. Day 1: Arrival in Haridwar

  2. Day 2: Haridwar to Guptkashi

    In the morning, drive to Guptkashi. On the way, visit Devprayag, the confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers. In the afternoon, visit Triyuginarayan Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In the evening, explore the local markets and try some local delicacies.

  3. Day 3: Guptkashi to Kedarnath

    In the morning, take a helicopter ride to Kedarnath. Visit Kedarnath Temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. In the afternoon, trek to Vasuki Tal, a high altitude lake surrounded by mountains. In the evening, attend the evening aarti at Kedarnath Temple.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath to Guptkashi

    In the morning, take a helicopter ride back to Guptkashi. Visit Gaurikund, a Hindu pilgrimage site and the starting point of Kedarnath trek. In the afternoon, visit Triyuginarayan Temple, an ancient temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. In the evening, explore the local markets and try some local delicacies.

  5. Day 5: Departure from Haridwar
    Nearest airport: Jolly Grant Airport, Dehradun (25.9 miles)
    Nearest railway station: Haridwar Junction Railway Station (2.2 miles)

    Depart for your onward journey. If time permits, visit Chandi Devi Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to goddess Chandi. Alternatively, you can also visit Rajaji National Park, a national park known for its tigers and elephants.

Recommendations

If you have more time, you can also visit Badrinath Temple, a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Vishnu. You can also take a dip in the hot water springs of Gaurikund. If you want to maximize your fun, you can try river rafting in Rishikesh, which is about an hour's drive from Haridwar. Additionally, you can also visit the Beatles Ashram in Rishikesh, which was a meditation center visited by the Beatles in the late 1960s.
