Mumbai to Kedarnath 6-day Itinerary in July 2023

  1. Day 1: Mumbai to Haridwar
    Flight: 2 hours 15 minutes, Drive: 40 minutes (25.9 km)

    Take a morning flight from Mumbai to Dehradun. After arriving in Dehradun, take a 40-minute drive to Haridwar. In the morning, visit Har Ki Pauri ghat and take a holy dip in the Ganges river. In the afternoon, visit the Mansa Devi temple via a cable car ride for a panoramic view of Haridwar. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Har Ki Pauri ghat.

  2. Day 2: Haridwar to Guptkashi
    Drive: 6 hours 30 minutes (200 km)

    After breakfast, start driving towards Guptkashi. On the way, visit Devprayag to witness the confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, which form the Ganges river. In the afternoon, visit the ancient Triyuginarayan temple, where Lord Shiva and Parvati's wedding took place. In the evening, visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple in Guptkashi.

  3. Day 3: Guptkashi to Kedarnath
    Drive: 1 hour 30 minutes (35 km), Trek: 14 km

    Start early in the morning to drive to Gaurikund. From there, start a 14 km trek to Kedarnath. The trek takes around 6-7 hours depending on your pace. In the afternoon, visit the Kedarnath temple, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva. In the evening, enjoy the scenic beauty of the Himalayas and attend the evening aarti at the temple.

  4. Day 4: Kedarnath to Guptkashi
    Trek: 14 km, Drive: 1 hour 30 minutes (35 km)

    Start your day early with a trek back to Gaurikund. From there, drive to Guptkashi. In the afternoon, visit the ancient Vishwanath temple in Guptkashi. In the evening, you can relax and enjoy the beautiful view of the Himalayas.

  5. Day 5: Guptkashi to Rishikesh
    Drive: 5 hours (170 km)

    Start driving towards Rishikesh after breakfast. In the morning, visit the famous Kashi Vishwanath temple in Uttarkashi. In the afternoon, visit the Beatles Ashram, where the Beatles stayed in 1968 to learn transcendental meditation. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Parmarth Niketan ashram.

  6. Day 6: Rishikesh to Mumbai
    Drive: 6 hours 30 minutes (250 km), Flight: 2 hours 15 minutes

    Start driving towards Dehradun after breakfast. From there, take a flight back to Mumbai. In Rishikesh, you can enjoy adventure activities like bungee jumping, river rafting, and kayaking. You can also visit the famous Lakshman Jhula and Ram Jhula. In the evening, attend the Ganga Aarti at Triveni Ghat.

Recommendations

If you have an extra day, you can visit the Badrinath temple, which is around 98 km from Guptkashi. You can also enjoy adventure activities in Rishikesh, like camping, rock climbing, and zip-lining. A side trip to Auli, a skiing destination, is also recommended. To make the most of your trip, try to start your day early to avoid traffic and long queues at the temples. Carry a raincoat or an umbrella as it might rain during the monsoon season in July.
